Frequent Questions
- How much space do I need for a home golf simulator?
Space is the most important factor when planning your install. While specific requirements can vary based on your swing, here are the general dimensions we recommend for a comfortable, safe experience:
-
Ceiling Height: A minimum of 9.5 feet is highly recommended, though 10 feet is ideal. You need enough clearance to confidently swing your driver without fear of hitting the ceiling.
-
Width: At least 12 feet wide allows you to center the ball with the screen. If you want a setup that accommodates both right-handed and left-handed golfers without moving hardware, 15 feet is the sweet spot.
-
Depth: You will need about 15 to 18 feet of total depth. This allows for 1 foot of clearance behind the impact screen, 10–12 feet from the screen to the tee, and enough room behind the golfer for a safe backswing.
-
- Can my simulator room double as a home theater or media room?
Absolutely! In fact, most of our residential clients design their spaces to be multi-functional.
We use premium, smooth-texture impact screens that double as excellent projection surfaces for movies, live sports, and gaming consoles. Combined with our high-lumen, high-definition projectors and integrated audio systems, your golf simulator can easily transition into a world-class home theater for the whole family with the click of a button.
- How much does a custom golf simulator cost, and what does installation involve?
Because every home is different, costs can vary wildly based on the room size, tracking technology, and aesthetic finishes.
-
Pricing: Our turnkey residential packages generally start around $15,000 to $20,000 for high-quality, reliable setups, while fully custom, premium luxury enclosures can range from $40,000 to $70,000+.
-
Our Process: We handle everything so you don’t have to lift a finger. Our service includes an initial space assessment, custom 3D design layouts, component sourcing, full physical installation (turf, enclosures, screen, and wiring), and final software calibration.
We also work with Client Provided equipment all the time. BYOLM (Bring Your Own Launch Monitor).
-
- What kind of ongoing maintenance or hidden fees should I expect?
We believe in complete transparency. Beyond the initial hardware and installation, there are two long-term factors to keep in mind:
-
Software Subscriptions: Most simulation software options (like GSPro or E6 Connect) have an optional annual renewal fee (typically ranging from $250 to $500/year) to access online play, new courses, and software updates. These subscriptions are not typically handled through FORTECH.
-
Wear and Tear: The physical components are built to last, but they are designed to take a beating. Depending on how often you play, the high-impact hitting strip on your mat and the impact screen itself may need to be replaced every 2–5 years. Fortunately, these can be modular components that are quick and affordable to swap out.
